Perfect Everyday Red for All Skin Tones | Featuring MAC Cosmetics

If someone told me (or my mother for that matter) that there would be a day when I would boldly rock red lips as my staple everyday color, we both would have given you a SUPER crazy look and laugh!

Why? Well, it all stems back to how I approached the makeup situation with my mom -- when I was still WAY to young to even think she would give me a pass.

It all started with a purchase. An impulse purchase (much like the ones I still make today) I made after school while I had a little free time to kill. I went over to CVS after school and got totally caught up in the Wet n' Wild case. Oh, yes...Wild n' Wild. A stand alone case that was full of an array of cosmetics that I could actually afford with my no job having middle school self. Awe, those glory days with no bills or real world responsibilities!

I was probably examining nail polish colors that I already owned several of when it hit me. Yup, I made an executive decision (before I even knew what that meant) to purchase a tube of $0.99 red lipstick because I was SO over lip-gloss and nail polish.

I remember the morning drive to school when I planned to make my grown up entrance to school with my grown lip and lipstick. You know how it was, everyone was dying to grow up and do grown people stuff. Well, that was me too!

My mom was driving me to school and when I thought it was safe (which was totally a dumb move on my part because we were both sitting in the front of the car), I proceeded to apply the awesome red lipstick.

A few minutes or so later, my mom glanced at my your face and noticed the application of bright red lipsticks and simply said, "take it off before you get out of the car". And that was it. The end of my red lip adventures. There was no need to argue with her because I KNEW better.

Of course it was quite a few more years (yup, high school) before I was able to more strategically negotiate allowable makeup products with my parents. Hence the reason I am such a great debater and a tad bit stubborn to this day. (*wink*) But even when I was able to wear makeup in high school, I was never quite brave enough to reach for a tub of red again.

But not forever!!!!!! A few summers ago, I was one of those people who waited on-line for what seemed like an eternity for the release of the Rihanna limited edition version of Ruby Woo lipstick from MAC Cosmetics.

(Left) the tube I am using up. (Right) the new tube that I use just on the corners of my lips. And yes, I travel EVERYWHERE with this color. And I do have two with me today. (*smile*)

I got it in the mail and LOVED IT IMMEDIATELY!!! I liked it SO MUCH, that I wanted to sleep in it. Today, it's my staple color. Well, not that exact tube or color because it was a limited edition thing. But now, I keep tubes of the Ruby Woo on standby for everyday use. I love it! I love the way it looks on me and on other people of different skin tones. It's my POWER COLOR!! And I feel like a boss with it on!!! Hands down!!!! (side note: I still feel like a boss without the lipstick...just a tad less bossy).

Now, I will say its not for the diva in hiding. Not at all! In fact, to rock this color and on a frequent basis, you have to let your inner diva shine. Which, I strongly encourage. Yup, to you reading this post. Let your inner diva shine!

Personally, I pair my bomb lips with well groomed brows, lashes (a little lash strip never hurt anybody) and my favorite foundation and I feel and look so BOMB!

Check it out for yourself.
