Where is your focus??

I'm probably one of the few people that uses Instagram primarily for the positive inspirational quotes and messages that it offers...

Hey @RealTalkKim and @Heatherllove!💪

And I surely (and I don't mean this in a mean way) don't care for most of the overly braggadocious things that some people post on repeat.😝 (Disclaimer: I still celebrate each of the people who have found this as their niche (P.S. - I'm too #blessed to hate over here sweetness 😘).

But I find (for myself and from some recent conversations with others) that social media can easily create a spirit of competition and a perfect platform for people to "create" the perfect life.

And unfortunately, most posts on social media are an illusion and not an accurate depiction of what's really going on in peoples lives. But nevertheless, its easy to get caught up in what we see, as we try to mimic the lives that we think we want and need to aquire our own level of happiness.

That's when we start to take things into our own hands by doing things like trying to apply for jobs, when it's not even our season for a new job becuase we are still growing in our current season/situation.

"For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven"
(Ecclesiates 3:1 NLT)

Taking things into our own hands without praying for God's will first sends out dangerous messages that we know how best to run our own lives and we can dictate what we need in each season of our life. I've been guilty of this--and quite recently too. So I'm not trying to come off like I have it all figured out. Because I don't, but I'm learning and sharing the lessons learned.

All I'm trying to say is that where your focus lies, your heart also resides. And sometimes it becomes easy to get so caught up with where we are looking that we begin to worship/obsess those things more and more and soon place them on a pedastal. And pretty soon, we become so involved and focused on our wants that we loose order of how things should always be in our lives.

"Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need." (Mathew 7:33 NLT)

And that sort of behavior says that you know better than God. And that your time table is far better than his. Which is never the case! So here is what I want to share. God knows each of us better than we know ourselves because he is the creator of you and I. No matter what the situation, we should go directly to him in prayer and ask for direction.

And lastly, no matter what the issue or our own desire, we must constantly search for God and keep Him on the pedastal and know that He will provide to us in acoordance to His will and only in His timing

And I'm so thankful for the things that I thought I wanted that he took away from me... so remember, everything that shines isn't gold. But as long as you keep the faith and your trust in the Lord, He will provide you will all you need. Keep your focus and heart on Him!

XOXO

Jennifer
